Small On Purpose

Blnka Records isn't a huge account. The scene it comes out of isn't a huge scene. Neither fact is a problem to be solved — it's closer to the whole reason any of this is worth paying attention to.

Big labels borrow scene aesthetics after the scene has already been priced in by everyone else. What's left by then is the look, stripped of the actual people and actual rooms that made it mean something. Blnka is upstream of that. It's small enough that the people releasing music, shooting the visuals through Blnka Co., and putting out apparel are, functionally, the same handful of people — not departments, not a supply chain.

That won't last forever, and it isn't supposed to. But right now, smallness is the proof that nothing here has been smoothed out for scale yet. That's worth being honest about instead of hiding.
